March 6 plantings

Square foot gardening. Today I went and replanted Romain and Spinach. I planted them two weeks ago and did not see anything so I replanted in my square foot garden.

I also planted Beets in 8 square foot sections, 9 plants in each section. Then I planted butter lettuce in 7 sections 9 each. I also planted 8 asparagus plants that were two years old. We’ll see how those go. I hope they will be fine. My soil is a combination of composted horse manure 6″ deep and it is very light and easy to dig. It is not sandy as suggested in the asparagus planting instructions but it does drain well.

I then planted in containers that are on my back deck. I planted basil, oregano, Thyme, and Cilantro. A little early to plant and I am not starting them indoors, so I don’t have high expectations of success, but we will see what happens.
